Instagram 02 Configure, Price, Quote Platform Project
Oct. 2023
Project Summary
“Configuring and requesting a quote over the phone is a more complex process," explains Rich Hopkins, Regional Sales Manager at Blue-White Industries. Our existing content management system didn’t provide the functionality needed to meet these complex and growing needs.
ChallengesHow might we digitize and streamline the quotation process to reduce delays and improve order conversion efficiency?
1. Understand
Context
Paper-based quotation processes are inefficient, costly to maintain, and unsustainable for the future. BW aims to digitize these processes to empower customers, support suppliers, and increase employee productivity. To better serve its customers, BW has decided to develop a quotation software that enables partners to submit information, configure products, and search for products entirely online.
Benefits for business
2. Discovery
Client pain points and needs
Our team collaborated with various BW stakeholders to sketch new designs, identify client pain points and needs, and develop a configure, price, and quote (CPQ) software to provide effective company-wide support.
Persona
Regional Sales Managers
BW understood that a self-quoting service was an expectation for B2B commerce, one they were unable to provide to their customers.
The existing quoting system was siloed and required a significant amount of manual work to access the necessary data.
Distributors
They needed a platform that could seamlessly integrate with the BW ecosystem for quoting purposes, as well as with other web applications. No single tool was capable of meeting the business's needs and connecting all their systems into one platform.
3. Gain confidence
Ideate + iterate
Director of Regional Sales, Danny S., immediately recognized the need to implement the CPQ solution. We began with a vision to create a platform that employees would actively use and engage with. Our team drew insights from competitors and stakeholders to shape an aspirational vision of the CPQ software—focusing on both BW’s needs and enhancing the employee experience.

4. Finished designs
Ideate + iterate
Our finished product seamlessly brought together several important things.
- 53% increase in the number of quotes: By enabling customers to submit inquiries to the sales team and receive a quote within 48 hours using the CPQ, BW accelerated the sales process.
- Website traffic has surged by 250%: With newly added features and functionality, BW's site visitors have increased from approximately 10,000 to 25,000 per month.
- Reduced call, fax, and in-person orders: With the efficiency of CPQ and improved website speed and performance, conducting business online is now much easier.
